Clinical policies for breast surgery
Wednesday, 5 August 2026
We invited people to share their views on proposed updates to four breast surgery policies. The policies were updated to reflect the latest clinical evidence and best practice, and to ensure equal and consistent access for patients living in Cheshire and Merseyside.
We regularly review clinical policies, taking into account the latest clinical evidence, local clinical expertise and the need to ensure all patients have the same level of access to care. As part of this ongoing programme of review, some changes may be made to existing policies.
We worked closely with consultant breast surgeons across Cheshire and Merseyside to develop four draft breast surgery policies. Most of the proposed changes were minor; however, as they could affect how patients access care, we asked people to share their views through an online survey to help inform the final versions of the policies.
The survey closed on 8 July, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback. The responses are now being reviewed and compiled into a report, which will be published once the analysis has been completed.
